Lining things to grid?

Postby jackburton » Tue Apr 26, 2011 7:37 pm

Is there a trick to setting objects down such that they're lined up?

I seriously spend way too much time picking and re-dropping cabinets, for instance, because they never come out right.

I even try using the grid effect on custom client. Where should I be clicking to set things down in center? I guess I'm just confused:
I would think there is one location for each grid square, but it seems a crate can appear to sit a handful of ways within one grid unit?

Any advice to appease the madness of obsessive compulsive furniture arrangement?

Your best bet is to build them the way u want it, and not have to move um sadly enough.

Sure, it's pretty easy to build this way, but it doesn't really answer the question and you're stuck with "not moving" anything.

OP: Shift is your friend in this game. With it you can do many extra things with your mouse buttons. For setting items down, shift+rclick to align to grid. When building shift+click to move the construction sign off the grid.

There's more tricks, but that's the one you asked about. :)

Mmm, there must be some poll going on here about what the best answer is ... but I don't see it. :?

Before I knew about shift+click drop I spent forever trying to align all my crates perfectly because I'm a huge fucking sperglord like that.

I was summarizing, I guess I could have used ellipses but I usually don't feel like putting that much effort in. And I'll have to try that Ctrl+L thing (though I doubt it works).

Edit: Wait should I have used ellipses, they were 2 whole sentences.
