Meat Grinders are a waste of potential FEP points?

Postby Bugssy » Tue Apr 26, 2011 10:37 pm

Looking at the "Big Bear Banger", Bear Meat x2, Boar Meat x2, Intestines. Gives 10 STR

1x Roasted Bear Meat = 3.5 STR
1x Roasted Boar Meat = 2.0 STR

So eating the ingredients of one BBB would give you (2x3.5)+(2x2.0)= 11 STR

Whats the advantage of going through the trouble of making a metal meat grinder?

Less hunger filled and less space taken in your inventory.

FEPs are only one part of the equation when it comes to food. Hunger filled is the other.

Food variety is another reason.

It depends. How are you going to raise the Q of bear meat? A q200 grinder would probably be the last thing on my mind. Cheese is sooo much better than sausage that I'm not sure I'd waste the time. For most everything else, yeah, the grinder will help boost the quality up.

(Note: I haven't dug up anything on the bottom level, so I've no idea what the max possible Q is.)

q200 roasted bear meat x2: 31.2 FEPs, 80 Hunger filled
q56 roasted boar meat x2: 9.4 FEPs, 80 Hunger filled
Total: 40.6 FEPs, 160 Hunger, .25 FEPs per Hunger
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
q142 BBB (assumed maximum) x1: 37.6 FEPs, 100 Hunger filled
Total: 37.6 FEPs, 100 Hunger, .37 FEPs per Hunger
in some cases sausage makes better products than roasting the meat.
deer meat is kind of blah roasted, but deer dongs are the #1 agility food.
mutton is garbage unless you're making lamb sausage.
piggly wursts are in most cases, a better alternative than roasting boar.
chicken chorizo owns too.
Thanks for the numerical analysis. Pretty much right off the FEP table, too. ;)
I just think that the OP doesn't understand how easy it is to keep more food around than he'll ever eat by himself. Even with a table with a 40% hunger mod, my and my brother still get more food than we could possibly ever eat. Being only two of us, deer are the one hard thing to get. (Think I need to get off my ass and get gear so I can one-shot them.)
Bear hide strap bow and deer bone arrows will do it. My hunter says it makes a world of difference.
Yes a HQ bow will be able to do over 200 damage.
