Spider Web Quality?

Postby cobaltjones » Tue Apr 26, 2011 11:48 pm

Is the quality of an Itsy Bitsy's Web directly tied to the particular forageable that came with it, or is it strictly the soil quality?

Basically I'm just wondering that if I boat around all day and pick mussels hoping to get some webs easily, are they all going to be q10, or will they actually be q20+?

It is tied to the quality of the item you picked, and the item you picked is tied to the quality of the soil. As for mussels i'm not sure what the quality is tied to, some say it is fish quality... But if the mussel is quality 10 then the web will be quality 10.

Yeah mussels are fish quality. Darn, seemed like an easy way to forage a bunch in hopes for webs, but probably not worth it if they're mostly q10.

Also, completely unrelated but since the topic is pretty much finished now, a cool way to nerf floatsams (before they were nerfed already) would have been to tie them to the waterQ (right now they're tied to soil), that way most of them would be q10 and you'd have a rare q40+ one if you got lucky.

Just cause I want to nit-pick: Not all items are soil quality. Some are based on clay or stone quality. I'm not sure if any are based on water Q, and haven't seen and sand based ones. (Why aren't there these, J&L?)

edit: fixed mud/clay. oops.

Hmmm, Not sure what you mean by mud quality... But I can tell you no foragables are based on stone quality (appart from feldspar).

Sand/clay/stone/feldspar all share the same node type.

Sand/Clay certainly aren't the same node.

I'm pretty sure that every main resource has its own node (fish/soil/clay/water/sand/stone/ore) and certain forageables are linked to the quality of certain nodes they lie on.

Sand/Clay have been the same node type since W3, I doubt it was changed.
