What attributes/skills to improve for fighting?

Postby Bugssy » Tue May 03, 2011 3:16 am

I still cannot figure out exactly what skills are used for each fighting style.

I know there is unarmed, melee and ranged, but how is each of them affected by your stats?

I know STR is used to decide how much unarmed damage is done, but other than that, it gets a little confusing.

Anyone here experienced in these forms of fighting?

ua str for dmg, agi for cooldown of moves and dodge
melee-same
ranged-perception.
For good fighter con is a must also. More hp and such.

You could skip PER if you have no intent to use a ranged weapon but otherwise yeah, what Dog said.

Fighters should be rangers (tracking), should have PER.

If you can't track properly you are of little worth.

The OP specifically asks which stats affect your combat numbers. C'mon now.

He also could search, but since he's new...
I know there is unarmed, melee and ranged, but how is each of them affected by your stats?

I know STR is used to decide how much unarmed damage is done, but other than that, it gets a little confusing.

STR - Damage, both UA and MC, always want more, always.
AGI - 'Defense' from Ranged attacks, it just lowers the RNG more towards your favor.
CON - HP, always want more, always.
PER - 'Damage' for Ranged attacks, your ideal is 2x what you think the highest person's AGI is.

CHA - Used for some 'party' style attacks, only by the party leader. Can be useful if organized.

Now with that said I'll say there are different ways to go as a fighter:
Pure UA ; UA/MC ; Pure MC - STR, AGI, CON very important. Consider PER/CHA
UA/MM - STR, AGI, CON, PER

Never go `just` MM, it caps effectively around 300.
You can consider going `just` MC, but I wouldn't recommend it anymore.

Str does nothing for melee, it's all in the sword.

Obviously because their melee sucks and some of the damage is being absorbed by the opponent's defense bar.
