How much strength is needed to hearthbash?

Postby Jacob_Lee » Mon May 09, 2011 1:42 am

Some fag built his hearth fire in my place and I was wondering how much strength I needed to bash and destroy it with a pickaxe. Preferably, I want to be able to destroy it in only a few minutes.

You'll need 16 strength.

I thought it was 35?? Or is that to operate a ram?

give more detailed info or don't type a reply, you are not helping the situation like that.

anyway you need to get past 5 soak, so you gotta do 6 damage. a hand axe does 1 so you need 5. 5x5 = 25 str needed.

IF you have a pickaxe then that adds 2 damage so you need 4x4 = 16str.

You're getting a lot of numbers confused there.

You only need base strength to operate a ram. The question of how much Str you need is what you're trying to destroy. For a palisade, you'd need 36 strength solo or a team of 4 people with 10 strength. (A 2 or 3 man is in the middle somewhere.)

A hearth fire has a soak of 5, so that means you need 36 str to deal 1 damage to it without any tools. Since everyone has a stone axe, it lowers the str needed to 25. A pick axe or sledgehammer would help even more, 16 and 4 str respectively.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Wrong. You don't do damage in intervals of one. You can do 5.001 damage, and that will hurt the fire, so you REALLY need a minimum of 10 str in order to damage a HF with a pickaxe, but you will only be doing .16 damage per hit.

ye.... no. tested it repeatedly. a 10str alt with a pickaxe can not damage his own hearthfire.

i am sure a 10str character would have done some damage after 10 stam bars. it did none.

aka: damage IS done in INTERVALS OF ONE

Yeah, almost everything in the game is integer-based, damage included.

Damage isn't. It didn't seem like you were doing damage cause a HF has a shit ton of hit points. I can smack a fire with a sledge for a few hits before the color starts to change, and I do about 14 damage a hit.
