Do plants spawn on player made grass?

Postby Jest » Thu Sep 10, 2009 9:56 pm

I was wondering if plants like wheat and flax spawn occasionally like animals do, and if they do will they spawn on plots of grass planted by a player?

See, me and my friends found this cool peninsula surrounded by a lake and rivers so we started to settle there. However the entire thing is forest and pretty far away from the closest grassland. What makes it worse is that the grassland there is pretty much entirely claimed. It took us hours just to find some hemp and we only managed to get a very small amount. So I'm thinking about turning a large portion of the forest outside of our walls into grassland so animals or something will spawn on it.

So will it work? Or will it be just a waist of time? If it's a waist then we'll probably just move to one of the new Supercells in hopes of finding some grassland near water.

Only animals will appear. I wish I wish I wish plants would occasionally spawn...
Surprise.

Ugh. I don't think it's worth it then. We seldom need anything other than sheep and really we don't even need them that much now that w have baskets filled with wool. Looks like we're moving.

The new herbs that one finds with foraging will also appear, as far as I can determine. But not the key domestic crops unfortunately.

wild crop spawns are becoming increasingly irrelevant as more people obtain them and trade them with other people.

i've had cows, chickens, and sheep spawn on the grass i planted. not sure if there's really a minimum size but larger area = more spawns.

Tsk. I've got a dryad too. Locked inside the grass camp by means of a palisade.

Plants don't spawn they are part of map generation.
