Silk thread quality is (Avg Filament*3+SpinningWheelQ)/4, softcapped by sqrt(Sewing*Dex).

sqrt(Sewing*Dex) like other clothes, I would assume.

Actually, silk is one of the cloth that is also softcapped by psyche as well, I believe the cube root of the product of dexterity, sewing, and psyche or Image

who follows the same routes every day,
who never changes pace,
who does not risk and change the color of his clothes,
who does not speak and does not experience, dies slowly.

I have a noob question about silk. What raises quality of silkworms/cocoons/silkmoths? Is it from the q of Mulberry leaves or from a random +/-5 to quality after moths mate?

except for the +/- 5 after mating, stuff can only lower silk Q

Ugh, that's unfortunate. I was hoping they'd be more like chickens. (Feed them better food and get better quality eggs) Thanks for the info ScegfOd. Looks like I need to breed more moths. :(

uh, but food doesn't improve the quality of chickens. only breeding.

Actually, your tools (spinning wheel, loom) can increase the quality of the silk as it's being produced.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

ahhh, good point!
i was only talking about the original silk fibers that you get from cacoons...
and yeah, you'll want good food (mulberry trees for worms) so that they dont get lowered in Q, but other than keeping their Q high the tree wont help...

The loom/wheel are indeed able to help raise (or lower) quality.
