Is this pretty much maxed out at 200 still? Is that wiki post correct?

Trolls require more; up to 300. If you've been raising cattle properly then you'll need more. Depends on your level of play. I think cattle are well past q100 at this point and if villages have been allowed to, they're probably nearing q200+ or will be in a couple of months.

Troll materials cap at 300 for level 5 trolls.

Remember that you can equip 2 nettle pants and 2 shirts to boost your survival.
With high enough nettles this should give like 20 survival boost

That's some potentially freakishly high quality nettles that would need to be found by new players. A 10-15 point boost would be more reasonable. (I'm going off the assumption that any q40+ soil will be claimed at this point of the world.) Of course, anyone sitting on high quality soil nodes maybe should sell these (or give them away) to new players. That extra survival is too much to pass up early on, and I like stinging salad for some reason.

You'd be surprised about what's just laying around in terms of quality. Sabinati once said that in W3 a new member of theirs, half way into the world, discovered a high quality soil node just a hop and a skip from their main city that they had just never bothered to check before. In-land has lots of nodes that no one bothers to check due to the time investment it takes to travel in-land compared to over water.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few q100+ soil nodes creeping around and countless q50+ nodes as well. The problem being that new players are as likely to fall into the trap of only exploring around water edges as the rest of us so they won't explore the spots that no one has checked.

I think we are talking here about a player who is increasing his survival from 200 to 300, so not really a new player :D
Or am I wrong?

The wiki said 200 before trolls were discovered. I changed the "effective limit" to 300 on the quality page.

Also as a note, in theory survival could be necessary past 300 for the sake of softcaps, even though the quality required to make that possible is insane
