at unarmed level 40 you can kill one using punch, jump, dash, slide and flex. how you go about doing that is another question and better answered here.

Using just Jump and Slide for moves you can kill a fox at about 30 UA. If you get all the maneuvers and such before putting much into UA, you can do it at about 20. I'm not counting for lag here and am not counting on how new a player is to the different combat system we have here. 40 is definitely overkill on the safety factor.

Easy way: Box the fox in with a roundpole fence and shoot it with a sling.

Foxes break round pole fences and most things you would normally try to block them with so if you want to kill a fox you should sling it from a boat.

I defeated my first fox yesterday using a sling and trapping it inside a roundpole fence, and the fox couldn't hit me (because of the fence). So, you are right that foxes will only break construction signs.
