Growing grass?

Will this grass grow more if I leave it there or do I have to convert the forest grass to dirt?
If there is a thread already posted about it, please link me up.

If there are no trees near by it will change slowly by itself, I think it uses the decay system when changing but not sure.

If you make a grass/forest tile into dirt and leave it, it'll have a chance of changing into moor IIRC.

If you leave it alone, it'll slowly expand if, as M So said, there are no trees, but stumps nearby. You could help expand it though. By laying grass down. (By using random seeds.)

A couple questions, IIRC means what?
And so if there are stumps and trees around, they won't grow?
Thanks.

Correct.

Fixed ;) Also, mooor will eventually go to heath when plowed. And yes, it spreads over time.

Yes but I believe stumps are fine (I'm not sure why you would want to leave them)

and IIRC is the chat room that some people use but I never bother with it.

IIRC means "If I recall correctly."

As someone already said, stumps are the same as "no tree."

Why remove them unless you have a reason to? I personally leave'em around until I need a small amount of blocks. No point killing a tree if you just need 4 or less.

Thanks. I had a feeling my wording was a bit off.

Thanks for all the replies. One last question, would it be more profitable to go and find animals to tame than waiting for the grass to spread?

That depends. Are you growing grass in your local area just for the animals to spawn?

The only benefit of waiting for the grass, would be so the animals you tamed can eat it in case you don't have enough food for them. Unless you live pretty far from a moor/grassland. Which is pretty doubtful.

animals don't spawn except on large areas(unclaimed not fenced in) so yes go out and explore, thats something you should be doing daily for foragables anyway.
