Taming

Postby Lithorn » Mon Feb 06, 2012 11:38 pm

Has taming been disabled or did they really up the "Attack" cooldown past 2-3 hours? Should the guide be updated from 10mins to the correct amount or did they really rubber band the numbers that much O.o?

I'm not aware of any taming changes in the last 2 worlds...

Hmm. I know the order, and as long as they can reach you, or even if they can't they should still attempt to break away after a while. This is hour 3 now, still has not tried to break. Still on the first tame, and its still following me like it was tamed. I know the time varies but really this much?

There have been reports of this happening in the past. Don't know what to tell you other than to restart. I'm not sure if it's a bug or just an extreme statistical anomaly. Either way, I've never heard a loftar report about it.

Try tame it in front of it's herd, and then attack it's family members. It will attack you.

I got it. Guess it was bugged. Also aggroing the herd once you tame it is soooooo much faster... Unless you do like me and kill all but 2 >.>;

Wait what? I thought you lost all your taming points when you aggrowed the other herd members that the aminal belongs to.

So in that case can you shorten the time it takes to tame animals? This is great news.

Not sure where you read that or what might have made you think that, but if you could point it out, maybe the guide could be reworked to be a bit clearer. I'm always looking for little things like this to try and make things easier to understand. You're help is greatly appreciated! ;)

No, you don't lose tameness points when aggroing, only if you attack the animal you're attempting to tame. Even depleting it's defense bar counts. (Ok, I'm not sure if Opportunity Knocks would count or not, but not something that really needs to be tested, either, as the only purpose in using that is to KO or kill the target.)

You can re aggro and cancel your attack on the animal and it may re-engage you, but the ability to tame it won't pop up. However getting it to aggro you via the herd does allow you to tame again. Obviously something to do with how it was coded.

In short, you can force the auroch your taming by aggroing ANY OTHER AUROCH BUT THE ONE YOU'RE TAMING, to make the whole herd aggro you, thus the auroch you're taming will also aggro you, without breaking the taming process.

Pulling a hair also works as a way to re-aggro but is not a sure method and puts you in danger if you're unarmed isn't high enough.
