If you are having problem trying to target the "jump" skill on the ants, you may want to try to click on the portrait instead of the ants on the field.

who follows the same routes every day,
who never changes pace,
who does not risk and change the color of his clothes,
who does not speak and does not experience, dies slowly.

Go inside of a house, click the two swords next to the portrait of your attacker so it's blue. wait a few, and it will de-aggro.

I'm trying to fight the ants, not avoid them.

Raise your unarmed skill higher if you're trying to punch/jump them. I heard at 5 you should be able to do some damage, but I would suggest 15

edit: An unarmed skill of 10 will reduce an ant to exactly 0 Defense with a punch.

Hmm, hmm if you are having some problems with gaining LP this guide should help you progress your skills upward.

Take in mind that the guide is rather large and you are not expected to read the whole thing. Rather it may be best to read it as you play so you can follow on playing. Think of it as an unofficial tutorial of the game.
