You can trade with your neighbours.

You can travel (by foot or boat) to a trader.

You can trade with traders that have posted in AfO - nearly all of them have village idols: your trade char destroys his HF, gets invited to be villager in traders village, ports into traders village, trades, leaves traders village, gets invited back to his own village by LS or chief, ports back to own village...( you might exchange crossroad signs for later trades too)

If you don't have a village idol yourself you might ask befriended neighbours to use theirs.

There is no special command or option. Trading is simple -- they pick up the goods you put down and you pick up the goods they put down. It is not secure; purposefully so.

Nope. If you party with a village lawspeaker, they can invite you to their village and you can teleport regardless of the distance to it if you lack a hearthfire. You'll have no way back without a village idol of your own though.

Only reason for breaking HF is that you don't have to care about travel weariness when porting home to your village

Yes, unless they live literally right next door. The only way to fast travel to them is if they have a village idol. But you will have to break your hearthfire if they are far enough away.

You won't have to break your own hearth if you either have enough agility to travel to them/you are close enough to them. Otherwise it will cost you over 100% travel weariness, therefore disabling you from fast-traveling to them. Breaking your hearthfire eliminates that burden (unless you use crossroads to travel of course).

Your best bet would be to have a village idol before trading. Unless you are familiar with the map (http://algeralith.info/HavenMap) and don't mind traveling by foot.
