Death By Mining (help?)

So, this is the second time i have died mining under supports. could someone tell me, do you have to be FULLY under the support to mine out a tile? i was mining an area where i believe most of the tile was green. i had turned awkwardly to mine the next tile out however, could that have helped it?

some feedback would be great, since im not the happiest with dying like an idiot

As I understand it, it doesnt matter how much of the tile is covered by mine supports. What matters is if the center of the tile is.

That and, Ive found out the hard way that the guide for mine supports on the wiki says its safe to mine 1 tile farther out than is actually safe.

You most likely mined out a tile that was halfway out of the green zone under the support.

It sucks, I have died by cave ins before. Select a support to build then just cancel it.

You'll see the green radius for the support that way, and you can be safe next time.

i believe only the tip was outside the radius on this one

i could be wrong and possibly miss clicked i guess.

the tile next to the one i was attempting to mine was covered, but just barely under half way. perhaps it read me as mining that tile out or something o_o

but it certainly isnt safe to mine one tile out of the support

Done this one myself. Turn the grid on (ctrl+g) in Ender's to help avoid it.

If you didn't know, make a miner's helm and wear it (reduces damage by half). You can't wear with a bear cape, though, if you need the STR. Supports are relatively cheap, so build more and don't risk it.

Just only mine on tiles that are 100% inside the radius so there's no way of this happening again.

Also get your con up so you don't die from bs like this. Best of luck to you in the future.

yeah, unfortunately magic, i had made the miners helm, a while back, but needed the cape on for this level.


i guess however, i wont bother mining a single tile that goes outside the radius like rollinggun said o_o
i even said today id die mining because i was stupid enough to let my hp fall

the extra 10 or so str wouldnt be worth it i guess, unless you get more the more you drink at some point?
i was mining out rock at this point so itd be sort of a waste of wine
