Lend a helping hand?

Postby Hammie » Thu Jul 25, 2013 7:48 am

Hey there buddy. I'm Hammie and I've been addicted to this game for more than a month now.
Although searching and finding out things on my own, there are a few things that I would need help with.

1. The biggest problem I have in the game is the lack of combat experience, and also knowing how strong my enemies are. Since I havent experienced the older worlds, I simply have no idea how strong casual "griefers, gankers, raiders" are at this point. My guess is that not everyone will run out with their main characters and go berserk and murder everything they see, but rather make an alt and do it that way.
Question: How much Strenght. Constitution. Unarmed. Agility. would I need to fend off the regular murderer(s)? -I know its impossible to know for sure, but any guidelines what so ever would be greatly appreciated.

2. I'm a hermit and I find that its almost impossible to compete with the bigger villages in terms of quality and value. Is there any way for a single hermit to actually produce anything that will give me the edge in trades? Or am I bound to boat around looking for Bluebells and flotsams until Im eventually caught and killed?

3. I'm chased by two guys on a boat, what the fudge do I do? I always carry two flasks of water and a bucket. And so far I havent died on any of my mains. I would consider this nothing but luck and would LOVE to get a few hints and tips on how to survive the big chases. Is there anything else I can do than pray? It feels like Im going to die any day now.

4. Palisades. How protected am I, really? Ive read that palibashers are common around now and that theres just a matter of time before they show up on my doorstep. Thoughts on this?

Thank you for reading

Greatly appreciated!

Hopefully this will help.

1. As a hermit, you can't really do anything against the regular murderer, unless you're going full combat. Get at least 100 UA so you won't die with one hit.

2. You could focus on one high quality product, you can't mass produce multiple high quality products like a village can.

3. Try to out maneuver them in a boat, just know the river better than they do. Make sure to always have high quality water on you, and hope for the best.

4. Get a brick wall.

Instead of two flasks and one bucket, you should have atleast 4 buckets and 3 flasks of 50+q water.

1. 200+ each and you should have a fighting chance.

2. Visit the apples for oranges section of the forums. You'd be surprised how easy it is to go foraging for shit, then trade it for high quality shit that will enable you to produce hi quality shit.

3. RollingGun73 summarized this one pretty well.

4. Again, brickwall. If you're worried about where to get the wrought iron, again, easily purchased thru various traders with common foragables. Make sure you have a village idol before trading.

Thanks for your replies!

I found this extra helpful. Could you please give me an example of what high quality shit I should buy and what high quality I should produce? Something that will be useful when the world gets older would be nice too!

Also, 200 in each stat to have a chance at fighting back? Sounds like alot. Could anyone confirm this?

Ill throw in an extra question: What kind of armor and quality should I aim for? Something that gives a good bang for the buck :)

if you don;t want to die/combat just use ender's client with auto-hearth turned on. You'll lose a few boats and what have you but your most valuable thing inhaven is your character.

Pally bashers are "just now" starting to pop up so you have a bit of leaway but i'd get on building either a brick wall or at least a brick vault around at least one house within your pallisade. Technically they could bash the pally and bubble in a ram at your vault house but if they want you that bad you're screwed regardless.
