Aiming speed or how to kill a bear not super slowly

Postby Agasi » Fri Aug 23, 2013 8:33 pm

Is aiming speed the same with the same marksmanship and weapon for every creature?
Does anyone have a rough estimate at how long the aiming bar hits a decent level, lets say 80%, at specific levels of marksmanship?
I'm talking about specific minutes or seconds.
I'm thinking we could start compiling data and do tests if this information isn't known I guess.
I'm going to find a fox and I'll post an estimate of how long my aiming bar hits 80%.
It might not 80% as the game thinks but 80% as it says on the aiming bar of Daji's mod.

Oh, and I'm talking about slings, I probably don't need to use stronger weapons to kill every creature.

There is a wikipedia page about this already, check out Marksmanship.

From what I've read quickly, does not show any estimate of actual time.

If you use a Q10 sling with 20mm and it will aim at maximum speed for that quality.
With like a Q100 bow and 200mm you aim alot faster than with a Q10 sling because you have more mm when using that bow.

He means time, like in seconds.
hey OP, the problem is, aim speed is affected by distance from target.
Are we talking no distance? You aim while you're right next to le fox?

Both I guess, alright, I guess I'll check at ~5 tiles away and ~10 tiles away, as if shooting from a boat at a safe distance.
BUCKETS, QUALITY. It should be testing with a standard 10ql sling but my still cruddy sling is 28 because of decent quality strings.

I've been meaning to post some of records but I forgot to note my marksmanship when I took them and the only thing certain I think is sling quality which was 28. At the very least, maximum aiming speed with a 28 ql sling can't be slower than what I am posting.
When I talk about percentages, I'm talking about how the aiming bar appears in Daji's mod.
All on a fox as they're easy to box in.
First hits are different from hits after that as, as soon as they aggro you, they move a bit more which may tack on more waiting time.

From 5 tiles away:
~8 seconds from 75 to 87.5% (right in the middle between 75 and 100%)

10 tiles
~8 seconds from 0 to 50%
~7 seconds from 50 to 75%

3 tiles
~7 seconds from 50 to 75%
~9 seconds from 75% to 87.5%

As you can see, my data taking ability is terrible.

4 tiles away, aiming after initiating aggro on a boar.
94 marksmanship
65 ql bow
18 ql arrows which I suppose don't affect aiming speed

start at 55 second mark(0%)
-at least 2 twitches
50% at 42s (13 second difference)
-at least 1 twitch
75% at 25s (17 second difference)

(boar) (90 ql sling) (94 mm) (after battle initiation)
4 tiles away
0% at 51 s
50% at 47 s (3s)
75% at 44 s (3s)
87.5% at 39 s (5s)
forgot to record the amount of twitching.

(fox) (64 ql bow) (94 mm) (after battle initiation)
4 tiles away
0% at 10 s
at least 1 twitch
50% at 56 s (14s)
at least 2 twitches
75% at 37 s (19s)
at least 4 twitches
87.5% at 7s (30s)

Bow aims more than 2x as slow than as my sling as MM is not high enough and bow is of a lower quality.
