Find Mining spots

Postby Valnar » Tue Dec 01, 2009 6:38 am

I'm looking for a mine to claim, I have the rustroot extract to prospect but I don't know where to start in order to find areas that might have mine-able spots.

Are mine-able spots on mountains, in caves, or anywhere?

Thanks for any help

mountains, caves, and mudflats are apparently good places to look. don't bother trying in the main grid though.

2nd tiers have been pretty well prospected. You really gotta be third tier now to have decent odds of finding mines. Even those have been prospected quite a bit. THere are still some out there. Probably still some gold mines left I'd wager.

You start in the first grid if you chose Brodgar, and the whole main grid is on the Maplib site (cant be bothered to get link) I'm not sure if theres any indicator to show youve moved to a different grid though.

You can see the lines for macro grids. They where the trees and shit look fucked up in a line=local map. 5x5 local map = 1 macrogrid. Supergrids are 5x5 macrogrids.

A couple questions:
1) is there any particular direction in which there are lot of cities, and therefore it is not so much convienient to explore?
2) why doesn't people rent mines? I think a mine owner which does not use it could temporarily kin someone else to mine it, in exchange for a percentage, or a fixed daily amount, of the metal acquired. Are there any problems with that?

Why should mine owners do that, then they wont be able to sell their metals because the nonmineowners have metal too?

You can also use Pacho's client to see coordinate, the maingrid is rougly the area between -37000 -3700 and +37000 +37000 coordinates(1 tile = 11 coordinates). The third tier grids are starting at 92000 etc.

Good point.

Anyhow I was thinking that when all of the mines in the current supergrids will be taken (this could happen in 1? 2? months) there will be no chance for new players to get a mine for themselves alone, or for their new villages.
Therefore the metal price could rise up only because of its rarity, compared to other stuff which can be theoretically infinite: this is a unique case in the game, and I think it wouldn't really be fair...

The only easy solution I can imagine is to add new supergrids soon enough :D

There's tons of mines already though. And lots of metal floating around if you want to trade for it.
Personally I'd like to see a greater scarcity of some valuable resources be that metal or something else.
