Chickens and Cocks

So I know that if you put them in a chicken coop you have to feed them and if you leave them in a container too long they die. So my question is, can I take them out of the container, let them run around, and then put them back in? Will this reset the timer or is it just an overall timer and the only way to keep them for extended periods is to make a chicken coop?

I mean, I'll put them back into the container before I leave, but say I log on every day or so, let them out, then put them back in? Like letting a dog out to get exercise.

Are you asking if that will feed them? Because I don't think it will.

Will letting them run around feed them? I honestly don't think anyone knows. I'm not sure "once a day" is often enough, but I've never really tested to see how long chickens will live in a container other than a coop.

A coop isn't too hard to come by. The hardest part is getting the wheat seeds, and those are common enough if you wander around and collect weeds from enough different areas.

if you don't have enough crops to feed chicken you can put into fodder forageables like blueberries, chantrelles and mulberries.
