How can I transport animals?

I found raided village and there are a few animals. How can I transport them to my house?

You will need to equip a rope for each animal and then leash them by right clicking on the animal. If you need to cross any rivers you will also need to make a raft.

Those animal lovers.. move them in pieces it's easier and faster especially if u have to cross a river.

Might want to have a Cart, too, if you need to cross multiple rivers so you can move the raft. If it's an abandoned claim, it might be easier to take over the old settlement than move more than a few animals.

You know, I just had a thought, but probably won't work...

If you put the ropes you leash to the animals in the wagon, will they follow the wagon? Animals decay when in carts, but tanning tubs forget their state (then again, they do this everywhere).

You can equip a rope in each hand to take home two animals at a time. Helpful if the village is really far from your base.

Nope, won't work. I tried.

Animal leash remains active while the rope is in your hand, or the characters inventory. Putting it a other location breaks the leash. (Ground, Wagon, etc.)

The exception to the rule is the bull that's leashed to a wagon. It will stay leashed to the wagon, until the leash is forcefully broken by some other action(s).
