Find Rustroot

I read the wiki and got my exploration skill at 34 and Perception at 21 but after atleast 3 hours of searching I still have no root.

Is there anything I might be doing wrong? Any tips?

I believe I started finding them at 30 PER/EXP, or maybe it was 40

Okay I found a root with 23 perception.

But I have another question ;x
Prospecting covers 1000 tiles, how do I know when to prospect again?
