Worshiping Stuff?

Postby VowOfSilence » Fri Feb 05, 2010 11:19 pm

So i clicked "forfeit" a lot until i got 3 nice items, then built that shrine.
But how do i sacrifice my items now? And what do i get in return? (i'm a pragmatist, i don't worship no stuff unless it pays off xP)

edit: Oh, and can i change who/what i worship or is there only ancestors?

you can worship the Angry Lord of The Deep by sacrificing yourself in a river

You only need to sacrifice the first item, the one on the left. If you can't get that you can subsititute either of the other two.

Left click the item in your inventory, then right click on your shrine.

If you do it right you get numen points which when collected can be cashed in for small simple spells -such as a map, or light, or food.

More precisely, only the item on the left yields Numen points if sacrificed. Sacrificing any of the other two only has the effect of forfeiting, but without losing Numen points. For any to work, you will also need to sacrifice items of higher quality than the amount of Numen points you currently have, or you will lose a point instead (which is still better than forfeiting, which takes half the Numen points you have).

Note that the effect of the prayers scales with the strength of your ancestors, so with no ancestors or only noobish ones, most of the prayers will have only a very slight effect.

More prayers should be added, by the way.

Strange, this isn't working for me. It won't accept any of the 3 items. Tried forfeiting again, but it still doesn't work.

What he means is right-clicking the shrine with the item to sacrifice in your hand, just like when, for instance, fueling kilns.

my first shrine seems to be buggy for some reason... i built a new one and now it's working. But I didn't get any Numen Points for my first sacrifce, #2 and #3 gave me 1 point each. The first shrine still won't work.

Could it be that you let someone else finish building it? In that case, it would belong to him.

It depends on your Tradition/Change slider. At neutral, you'll get one point for each sacrifice; at full change, you'll get, on average, 1 point for every third sacrifice; and at full tradition, you'll get three points for every sacrifice.

See the announcement thread for more details.

Thank you, Loftar! This explains a lot.

I was wondering why I never get any numen, even though I never forfeit and always give the first item if I can. It's the full change issue in my case, and likely giving the second or third item often enough that I've not yet given 3 good sacrifices.
