Where to get stuff

I thought this could be a thread where cluesless newbies like me can ask where to get certain items.

To begin with, I'm having difficulties building a straw bed, because I can't find straw. And where are cows?

For straw, look for grasslands (Light green on the map, apple trees on them) and find wheat, you need foraging for this. Once you find some, harvest it, you will get two seeds and on the ground will be some straw.

Cows are risky, you get them by taming something with a real long name beginning with A, I don't suggest it yet as you need to fight it a few times, and that will probably kill you. I'm not too sure on the details so I'll let someone else fill you in on that one

You need wheat to get straw; in order to get wheat, you need to find a patch of it out in the wilderness, and it only appears in, I believe, grasslands of various kinds (look for pinkish, gold, or green fields).
It is impossible for newbies to get cows; You must tame an Auroch- a wild cow of sorts- and they are each individually as tough as some bears, and travel in heards- or should I say packs. Some day we may have nonviolent taming.

You might be able to buy a tame cow, assuming you find a high-leveler willing to sell, but then you must feed it, constantly.

My advice is to have fun with what you are permitted to, and ignore the existance of high-level players. I've had tons of fun myself, that way.

And anyway, it's a moot point; the map will be reset in about a fortnight. The fun thing is, then everyone will be equal.

Oh, and you don't need foraging for wild crops, just plant lore, and then farming.

ya can only drink tea , beer and wine..

make a cup from birchbark, or a waterskin from hide, or a flask from leather, left click it and then right click a source of water, e.g. a well, river, or lake, or a barrel that has been filled from one.

If I can't fill the Kuksa with water, does that mean it's an ocean or something? XP I can't see if it is on my map...

I've only ever drank from a well using a Kuksa, by left clicking it then right clicking the well, so it fills with water, then selecting my full kuksa and selecting drink, but I expect it's the same with a flask or water skin from a river. I don't know what's wrong if you cant fill it from a river.
