Sheep

Postby Habeeb » Wed Feb 17, 2010 7:40 am

I can't seem to find them anywhere and am in dire need of some wool.

I checked the wiki but the page doesn't tell me anything about where or when to find them.

In order to have wool, you must first tame one of the wild ancestors of sheep (They look like goats), which can be found in plains type areas, called Moufflons (Or something similar)
Taming them is no easy feat, since you must gain initiative, advantage, and several other battle advantages then use "Quell the beast" on the creature, while holding a rope. Doing so will make them follow you around for a time, but they will try to break free a few times, anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour apart from each other. Every quelling of the beast gives them 20 more Tameness points, and every time they get hit, they lose 2 tameness.
After reaching 100 tameness they transform into a sheep, and you can get wool from them.
The same method applied to cows.
Note that they attack in groups, so initiating combat with one of them will initiate combat with all of them, leading to you being roflstomped.
If you can't kill them at this point, you probably won't be able to tame one before the reset.

Reset is in about 10 days. Full map and character wipe.

Our well beloved devs usually do about one update a week, which they announce in the announcements forum. It is always worth reading this announcement -and past announcements- very carefully, even if you only read the first posting and not the long thread of player comments that follows. Some very basic information on how-to is given here, like for example information on animal domestication. But the devs are also fond of understatement and the kind of by-the-way remarks that are more exciting than the supposed announcement. A close reading alerts you to the not-to-be missed data which is sometimes slipped in.

I seem to recall that swimming was first described as "requiring caution". This is the way the devs are pleased to let us know that something is darned lethal. They have a dry sense of humour...

I believe the reset was just thrown in there, with one tiny mention in it: "The new combat system will be in place after the reset two weeks from now" or something like that.

Nasty shocker ;)
