How do i use an axe in battle

I recently obtained a skill that allows me to use axe's does this include stone axes?

For the simplest axe attack, chop:

- Make sure you have 4 initiative points.
- Make sure you have holding an axe.

For Cleave which does 50% more damage:

- Make sure you have 8 initiative points.
- Make sure you have 3 advantage (the scale is weighted towards your direction 3 units).
- Make sure you are holding an axe.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

Someone please explain me why you would ever use Cleave instead of Chop?
It takes double initiative and doesnt do double damage.
