Regarding Farming

Postby VileThings » Tue Mar 30, 2010 1:33 pm

Hi folks,

I have several questions regarding plants which the Wiki couldn't answer:

- How longs does it usually take for plants to grow?
- Do all plants have several stages of growth? If yes, how many each? And how can I tell if a plant is in its last stage?
- Will plants wither and die if left unattended? If yes, how long does it take?

Thanks in advance :)

PS: Yesterday I put a Windsown Weed on a drying frame. When I logged in today the whole drying frame was gone (there were three other drying frames in the vicinity that were unaffected). Is this a known bug?

1 No clue
2 There are different stages of growth, I know grow times differ for each plant but again no clue for how long, and in the last stage you can harvest (or the pre last for the seeds with some). You'll get to know the last stage's sprite soon enough.
3 AFAIK they dont.
It probably decayed. Look up decay in the wiki (concerning the PS question)

Two (real) days.

All plants have different stages of growth in that they take different graphics at different points, but as far as I'm aware carrots are the only ones which you can either harvest as seeds or as full carrots. I've never had pumpkins or a couple of other rarer ones so can't say that for sure though.

Carrots grow the fastest pumpkins the slowest.

You can make every crop grow faster with beehives...

Thanks for all the answers so far :)

Can someone confirm this?

None of the other frames decayed. Is decay applied randomly? The other frames aren't even damaged (i.e. I can't repair them).

What's a recommended ratio "planted fields: bee hives"? 1:1 seems overkill to me, yet the wiki suggests it for maximum efficiency.

I got 8 hives for 432 tiles of crop. It's more than enough for me.
