Hunting

Postby Skyrise99 » Wed Apr 07, 2010 10:35 am

Hey guys/girls, I'm really new to "Haven & Hearth". So I am posting this question to learn more about how to hunt; I don't really know how to kill a fox.

E.G. I went up to a fox and used the "Punch" ability because all of the others didn't work. Anyway, I kept punching it over and over but it didn't kill it, and eventually it did something and knocked me out.

So if you chose to help me out, please post a comment explaining all the stuff I need/should know about hunting. If not, just don't post.

Thanks heaps,

Hiya Sky, first off welcome to H&H.

I dont know the exact levels (Strength, Unarmed) needed to kill a fox, but I do know that you have to train a long time to do that, maybe 40 or so Unarmed skill.
If you raise unarmed you raise your chance to hit and you raise your chance to dodge; not being hit.

I would recommend punching only animals that dont attack back for now (frogs, mice, rabbits, chicken) if you want to train. With about 10-15 you should be able to kill ants.
Best find something to raise LP with until your Unarmed is somewhat higher.

If you need to know anything else PM me: Unarmed and hunting arent my area's of expertise but I know the 'basics' of the game pretty well.

Cheers

This game when talking about the fighting aspect is very tough. alot of work goes into being a fighter.

Thats why in the beginging they say to focus on chickens or rabbits.
1. you can catch them instead of kill them
2. they dont fight back.

Everything else (minus frogs and rats) will fight back if provoked and of course the infamous bears and boars will attack weather provoced or not.

Rabbits can be right clicked and killed. Then the body broken up into meat, bones and fur. Meat can be cooked. Bones are useful for a few different things. Fur can be dried to make bunny rabbit shoes and the dried fur can also be turned into leather with a small bit of effort.

Have found no use for frogs or rats yet.

There isnt much more info then that, my post is still the one answering you best here

Also, for string you can best buy the skill foraging, you can then find spindly taproot or stinging nettle and use that for string.
