How big IS this map?

Been travelling by foot and boat in one direction now for ages. how big is this damn map?

It took me four real life hours to get to my new settlement.
So yes this world is big very big. Travelling from one side to the other side takes about 10 hours I heard someone say :P

And that would be walking speed? Or Crawling (carrying a boat with supplies)?

There are alot more, just about 300 playing at the same time.

And the enourmous open world with not alot of inhabitants is part of the game. It is supposed to be that way.

There are at least 1000+ hearthlings all in all, judging by the fact that we have 300 ppl online more or less every night.

I stand corrected. Is there going too be an easy way to travel, maybe a hanglider?
