Stay away. its fairly easy to just look ahead as you walk. others have said that they hide behind trees but thats very rare for me. If you keep an eye out as you wander around you'll see them. Also they cannot follow you into water so stay in the shallows if they attack you. also they cannot go into houses so hide in your house if they attack.

you have to plow it first. and your plowed area has to be a little big bigger than the house/cabin you are putting on it. as for the boars....i know its time consuming, but if you have to, put a pole fence around the area your working in. its easy points and itl keep things off you until your lodge is through. they kinda stand at the fence and stare at you. evil little buggers. bears will do it too. but if you jump on a bear, he WILL chew through the fence.

Just wait until they end the aggro, exit the cabin and try to zip past them. It should be about 5 secs before they notice you standing there, if you log out for 30 mins they will also disappear on their own it's also a good idea to claim the land around you since animals don't spawn on claims.

When you're out chopping wood or whatever, don't have your face buried in the character screen or be obliviously chatting away in a party. Not saying that's what you're doing, but I found that once I started paying a little more attention that the attacks became less frequent. They are easy to avoid if you see them before they see you.

Build a palisade and claim the entire inside of it (and a little further) and you'll have a completely animal free zone. You need the yeomanry skill in order to build these things. Start saving your rabbit bones and taproots and making rabbit skins into leather, you need all of these things for a palisade now. Or see if you can find any friendly neighbors who can help. Most people are paranoid about strangers, but if you don't act like a dick they might help you out or even team up with you to live together. Good luck

Raise your combat skills and hunt those suckers and make sausages! Haaaa.

No but uh, if you play game in full-screen you should easily be able to spot boars way ahead of time. Even in non full-screen just be more attentive. If one chases you go run into shallow water. The best thing to do is if you see one that before it aggros you just log out and come back way later as it'll eventually vanish.

If they do aggro on you, try and place yourself in an open area with cover in two directions. Choose where you are going to collapse into a graceless bloody heap. That way there is a bigger chance they will wander off while you are watching the birdies, but if they don't you have a couple of alternate directions to leap and run to try to get into cover so you can sneak off.

Also, while ko'd and watching the birdies, set your speed to your fastest available, and start spam left clicking. Ideally you want to discover that you have become conscious because you are halfway behind a tree on your feet when you open your eyes again.

If you have an option when running from boars run for the water and not for you house. If you can lead them away from the area where you are hunting/building/working you are better off than if you are trying to build a roundpole fence around your hearth but you keep leading them back to the work site.

And hard as it is to believe, it is actually possible to outrun a boar on forest terrain, so carry a couple of full flasks or a waterskin, if you can get them, and prepare to run until you can't anymore, use up your brief lead in gulping water to restore your stamina and go back to running again.

It is extremely easy to lose a boar or any other aggro'd aggressor (except hearthlingam sapiens) on the wide shallows of a lake. They can't pathfind you in the water and you don't need to go ashore to get around bumps in the land and shoreside trees. And once you start wanting to revenge kill that boar, standing in the shallows of a lake might be a good place to try it from...

as for the revenge on the boar that keeps nomming on you? after about three hits, hel run away. go after him. every time he stops, peg him again. keep at this til one of the two of you die. you can use the guts for fishing and you will need the bones for glue. tooth goes into snuff (with poppy) and the dried hide for leather. and eat the meat. unless you are high up there, slings are better than bows (sling stands on its own, bow takes into account the arrows also). you could also look for neighbors and ask for help. either in the hunting or for a bandage. unless you luck out and know what you are doing, stay away from the leeches. which by the way can be used for fishing also.
