FYI: You can't tame animals and bring them to an island (No way to get them across water). Something to think about before you set yourself up on one. That's assuming you want the island to set yourself up on.

Except now you can build rafts...

Do you mean the rowboats? They cannot carry an animal. If they have a new form of boat though that would be awesome - more storage and the ability to carry animals.

And you can find lots of small islands if you go along any river long enough. TBH I haven't seen a single large island, since it would dwarf even the lakes. Not many that would have enough resources on them for one person, it'd just be your house there and all the work done on the mainland. Of course, most of the map is unfinished on havenmap.tk, enough space that there would be a huge sea there (though if there was something that impressive SOMEONE would have posted it).

Rafts, just released.

Can take animals, can take wagons, can take boats.

In other words, you can now live on an island :O

Just read about the rafts, so I stand corrected.

Make a boat and go sightseeing on the rivers for islands, simple as that.

There are decently sized islands out there. Some about a screen in size I have seen. there are also some that are a few screens in size. Its essentially just land that is surrounded by rivers. but its small enough to be considered a big island I guess. Most islands tend to be long and thin though which is not very good for developing.
