well it's not really as simple as just using 1 move as there are a lot of different situations that call for different things

however, to keep it simple, use jump to raise your attack bar, then punch when it's full. if your defense is low you can use a defensive move to fill it up but i generally don't bother with that when i'm fighting animals. if you can't get past the animals defense then use call the thunder from a boat or something to get a bunch of init and then fight it. use opportunity knocks to lower it's defense and then punch it.

to be honest though your unarmed level is probably too low

If you really can't stand to figure it out, you could always try Marksmanship. It's a lot simpler: put a barrier around the enemy or yourself, then keep clicking it twice a minute until it dies.

Anyway...easy strength food includes several kinds of fish, as well as certain ants. Better sources include cheese, boars, bears, etc.

In my experience, I've found that 50 unarmed is enough for any foxes IX or lower. you'll probably want 60 or more for level X foxes, since for some reason, there's a huge leap between IX and X foxes. My stats are absolute Schiesse, however, and I'm wearing only leather armor. Your mileage may vary.

I highly reccomend that you lure them onto heathland, moorland, or barrens once you get the upper hand and start laying down the pain, otherwise they'll easily outrun you in the forest, since they run when they're in trouble. If they go through terrain that you can't run at your fourth speed at? They'll leave you in the dust.
