Baking quality

Postby Kolazonta » Thu Jun 24, 2010 9:55 am

How it works?

I was making bread dough. I have:

ql 51 water,
ql 40-42 flour,
44 cooking.

And result is only ql 37-38 bread dough. Why? It should be better.

How much perception do you have?

this is why i suggested INT to be considered instead
even a blind guy can bake a cake

a perceptive person is MUCH more likely to learn how to cook then a brainy mcsmart person. cause its the perceptive person that will catch on sooner whats happening and what to do in what stage. oh and about your blind guy argument... a stupid person is more likely to be good at cooking then a blind person.

you just want int for it so it completes your pretty little standard rpg int-str-dex circle(i read your other topic). and thats just not a good enough reason.

Kewl, but... well, i was surprised coz wiki says nothing.

"Perception
In conjunction with Exploration, determines the visibility of certain objects in the wild (Wild Windsown Weed, Inkweed, Rustroot, Chantrelles) and the detection of scents. Raising Perception raises your minimal ranged damage (Sling, Bow or Ranger Bow)."

Nothing about baking quality.

So, next question: are all craft able items/objects also affected by stats, not only quality of materials, tools and skills (soft caped)?

so i think that you are really good in cooking

the blind guy is not an argument
the fact that a post like this exists where somebody is suprised about the thing, THAT speaks for me

dergilb, your first line... its sad, thats all i can say about it. you are neither witty nor smart, just sad that you have to resort to personal insults the moment you enter a discussion.

you use the blind man as a argument for your case( "even a blind guy can bake a cake" , incase you decide to be childish and change it) but when a comment is made you decide to go against yourself, ye... i dont know what to say here.
the guy would have equally been suprised about int being a factor as looking at his post you can see he had no clue at all about what else could influence it.

now to get back on topic, can someone confirm or disprove the use of perception in cooking? i honestly have never done it beyond roasted meat and boiled eggs so no idea.

Check the quality article. That's where some formula is proposed.

not all, but most

generally the softcap is the geometric average (the n root of the product of n values, i.e. square root of x*y, cube root of x*y*z) of the skill and stat(s).

metalworking is str and smithing, cloth is sewing and dex, food is cooking and per, etc

in some rare cases it is only based on one skill or stat, e.g. survival for roasting meat, or farming
