Recently I started seeing the tiniest sprouts of fir trees randomly about outside my claim.
They were all planted two close to other trees so they would stunt if they haven't already and I was beginning to get worried about some prankster taunting me with tiny shrubberies from outside my walls. I had asked my neighbors about it and there have been stories about greifers going around. This morning I wake to find one of these have sprouted inside my palisade now. Im in deep forest terrain, does it randomly spawn trees, or is the serial killer already inside the house?

They all look like a fir tree right after being planted. The ones outside are too close to other tree and I assume they will be stunted, but the one inside looks like it is far enough away that it will become a full tree given time.

I was thinking about making a thread about this but I am glad someone else did because it means I am not going crazy. I too am seeing tiny sprouts of fir trees around my property. I think J&L have made trees respawnable and didn't tell us.

J&L have made trees respawnable and didn't tell us.

this was confirmed by loftar in irc last night. i have the log saved and once i'm done editing it down to the relevant bits i'll post it in announcements.

The placement algorithm could use some refinement, I saw a sapling on a cliff. Also, it'd be neat if trees didn't spawn on claims, I sure as hell don't want q10 saplings stunting my high q trees.

yeah, they probably shouldn't grow on claims. they currently do though, both village and personal. i'm not sure if there's a check for minimum distance from another object or not.
