Well, I have 23 Marksman now and I am still having trouble killing foxes, the bar takes FOREVER to fill up and it does menial damage (like around 23-30) when the bar is about halfway.
I guess I just prefer to see the dark side of things. The glass is always half empty. And cracked. And I just cut my lip on it. And chipped a tooth.

Note that your Marksmanship is effectively limited by your sling's quality times 2. So if you have a 5ql sling, you can have MM up to 10 and after that it doesn't have any more effect. You need to have at least a 12ql sling for your 23 MM to have full effect; otherwise it's going to be as if you have slingql x2 MM.

When you craft a sling, its quality comes from the average of all the strings you use, but is softcapped by your Survival skill. So if you have only 5 Survival and try to craft a sling from 5 15ql slings, your sling will be (15 + 5) / 2 = 10ql. Increase your Survival and find better strings!

Sling quality increases damage, as someone said earlier in the thread. MM increases aiming speed. Perception increases minimum damage.

Also, the aim bar has no effect on the damage you'll do, only the chance that you'll hit. You could shoot when the bar is full and still only hit for 15 damage.

Please also note that foxes have a generally high agi. Agi negates the speed of the aim bar. Personally I like to go for boars when I had a Q 7 sling and as low as 14 marksman. I know it sounds crazy. but with practice and a squared fence with a door on both ends you can lure the little bastards in without a scratch. (half the time however they get caught on the pole and you WILL probably get nicked) Do it at your own risk, but its worth it.

Target's agility only decreases damage, and shooter's perception increases it. More precisely, minimum damage is max*(per/agi)/2.

Aim speed is just determined by the lower of marksmanship and 2x sling quality.
