ViciousGamer04, without a claim any of his property is considered to be free taking. I myself restrain from doing it (and not like I have any use of it) but many others are not so courteous. A claim and a roundpole Fence with a hole that has one branch built in will stop anyone without vandalism. A palisade will stop anyone less than 841 strength (Seal your cornerposts when you are done!). A proper village claim and crossroad will stop most anyone that tries to grief as well as stop most of those that idol jump but patrol your walls daily for rams.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

How in the blazes am I to build a Palisade? I'm pretty much a newbie, and I live in the middle of nowhere. I am yet to see anyone at all. Whatsoever.

Though I did find a corpse. Does that count?

anyway, thanks everyone for the help. Also, how do I build a gate in my roundpole fence?

EDIT: OH NO

A BUNCH OF MOOSE HAVE SPAWNED INSIDE MY FENCE. CURSE MY LACK OF YEOMANRY. REGARDLESS, I HAVE A SLING AND I HAVE RETREATED INTO THE RIVER. I AM AS DEEP AS I CAN GET. ADVICE IS REQUIRED.

EDIT EDIT: Well, the moose seem to be peaceful. I guess they can just chill out, then. Maybe I can tame them if I get some rope? Regardless, I have a small pen inside my base where I tried to keep some chickens (They escaped) and one spawned inside. I designate him the leader, and I name him Moosilini. (Moose-E-lean-E)

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Huh. They're gone, even Moosilini. Well, I suppose that was nice. Back to gathering wood and stuff.

Hehe, yeah. The moose are peaceful people.

And I see you took my advice for the fence, Wild windsown seeds are your key to success now.
You need animal husbandry to make a hutch for chickens, you can't fence them in and keep them there, because they'll spawn away. The hutch/pen/whateveryoucallit is a build-able object like a cabin. And you need straw, which comes from the crop "Wheat." This shows once again the power of foraging.

+Can we see a screenshot of your place?

EDIT: You build two cornerposts two tiles away from each-other. Then, right click on one of the Cornerposts to form a gate.

Oh! It's so cute! Remember to keep your baskets on the pavement or in your house. I would suggest moving the bed into the cabin, too. I know pavement and houses stop decaying by a lot, especially rune-stones. I'm PRETTY sure being in a house decreases the decay more then pavement.

Great job, though.

+Haha! Who's laughing now boar! Note that if you have a sling, you can snipe him without being hurt, as long as there is no way into the fence. Without proper MM, you will probably miss 99.99% though.

House stop build object decay. This is why it is ideal to put a cupboard in a house.

It's not a matter of if you meet someone else, but when. Admittedly the urgency depends on if there are those that will do you harm is nearby or not.

Last thing of mention, a bear cannot see past the fence but if you aggro him, he can break it down to get to you.

Alright.

Apparently my entire future depends on grinding LP.

Any suggestions, gentlepeople?

I saw the mass amount of baskets, that's some good LP.
Are you near any mudflats? (Brown flat areas.) If so you can dig for any Q clay, and make some urns. Urns not only store a lot, but they give pretty good LP.
As I said, making fires and baskets is okay. You need pottery to make urns, and dig. I forgot how much LP it takes, but I know it isn't much. You can ALSO dig on the shallow water for a different type of clay, you can also make urns with them. Farming, along with being a lifesaver, also gives pretty good LP, harvesting and planting crops.

This is important. When you have any personal belief points, upgrade them to Change Immediately, having full change will increase LP gain by 3x, but not allow you to recover your skills when you die. Despite it's downfall, it's still a GREAT strategy for LP.

Despite it's decent LP gain, I do not recommend cutting trees. Not only does it kill the nature, but users don't look to kindly at "ClearCutters"
Remember, Change! :) Also, keep us updated on your place, I would like to see how it grows. :D

Cutting trees just for LP is frowned upon. Cutting trees for use is A-OK, though. You'll need a lot of them for a palisade, so you could just cut some and haul the logs to your place. You could also build another house, you'll need it in a week or so. And furnish your house with some cupboards.

I need food, I can't find any animals other then some very angry boars, and my Exploration is only 6. I'm afraid of spending LP because I need Yeomanry more then I need food, so yeah.

So I just spam fires? Cool.

My change bar is already near the very edge of Change, and my Learning Ability is 201. This should make it go smoothly.

EDIT: YESSS
