from what I understand (and I'm fairly certain I'm correct) every mine is it's own world just like a house. There is no possible way for you to cross black into another, don't even think about it, mister.

Eheh,
Fairly sure every mine is on a different map, I still wish we could have jumped into someone' elses town from below.

When you have 2 mine holes really close to each other. Since the amount of space u can dig in a mine would have, in theory, made its "space" overlap the other mine's space.

No. Each is it's own world, there is no overlapping. Consider each mine and/or house like an 'instance'

Yes I know. Just saying "in theory" considering the amt of space in a mine.

yeah, 2 mines on the same minimap would "logically" overlap, but they don't, because they are instanced

I was actually really impressed to find out that caves are actually part of the world map and not their own little independent instances like I kind of assumed. It was really freaky walking through a twisting turning caves for 10 minutes and then finding another exit hole and popping up all the way across the region. Just seems like a logistics headache to make the underlaying structures of caves line up correctly with the main world map with multiple entrances to the same cave and such.

Yeah seems caves work as a Z layer, I believe they were all made at time of mapgen and never change as well.

The answer is obvious. Of course the mines overlap, one is just deeper than the other.

/solve Paradox
I think it's made of bubbles and hate.
