Do you lose your skills?

I don't get an option to reincarnate so I have to make a new character- and no that new character doesn't have my old skills.

I'm fairly certain (haven't tested it yet, for better or worse) that you reincarnate by means of a gravestone inside the 'newbie' area (the mine-like place you spawn in when you first create a new character). You should probably take a look around in there.

When you create a new character, hunt around in the starting room. One of the things in there will give you an option to inherit. You don't reincarnate really, you just claim somebody as your ancestor.

Thanks. Do you get old property back no matter what tradition/change points you have?

Yeah, to my understanding, the only thing that influences that is whether or not you claim the character who originally owned it as your ancestor.

EDIT:

To clarify, if you do claim him as your ancestor, you get it, if you don't, you don't.

How does permadeath make the game more fun for anyone besides griefers?

you are one hundred years too young to fully understand what permadeath brings to a game, even were it explained to you

Are you sure? I died at full change, and my beliefs weren't affected (other than tradition/change, naturally).
