IMO deer only become reasonable to kill when you can take out all their HP in one hit. This is most easily achieved with a ranged weapon. The difficulty jump dramatically when you have to worry about healing.

God. It heals waaaay to fast. Just getting my 4th inventory right now but I need their antlers for my village claim.

get them going on it. for rather effective hunting you only need mm 20 or so. That is as secondary hunters in cases like this, plus, hunting gives loads of LP
