For some reason this command only works for java6 guys, it won't allow me to do this with 5

Ok, first you want to (and this will sound really complicated, but it is not) install java 6.

Press Alt+F2 and copy and past this into the line:

gksu /usr/bin/software-properties-gtk

click run...


You want to click on the "Other Software" tab. The first repository on the list should be "http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu maverick partner" - enable this repository (both lines). Then click "Close" and when prompted, click "Reload".


Then you need to search for sun java in the Ubuntu Software Center or open a terminal and type:

sudo apt-get install sun-java5-jre sun-java5-plugin


I think you might only be able to grab java 6 from the repository, but you NEED to make sure that both repositories are selected.

you know after I did all this bullcrap, it seems impossible to get the plug ins working in firefox! I am stuck with this stupid fake open source java 6 that shuts down haven and hearth every time it see some tobacco in game!
