Questions on mineing caves.

They cost so little metal wise and offer 100% security.

There are rumors that supports are bugged near the outer edge. Meaning there is still a chance for a cave in. I cannot confirm this and I'm too scared of losing another character to test it right now.

4. If we use rustroot in a cave and it says there is copper below. Does that mean there is copper in a near by wall or do we need to make a mine hole in that spot to get the copper "bellow"?

That means there's a mine hole. If there's ore in a wall it will point to it with a dowsing circle.

As for mine supports, I always just do 33433 edges and I've never had a problem, and our current cave mine has some 20+ supports up. We've mined clear between two different cave paths and begun widening it. Chances are good that whoever's "bugged" is just accidentally mining the wrong spots.

now you are SURE about this? This statement on the new wikia tells me "Since the 1/11/2011 restart, Mine Holes will now lead you to the second layer of the world, witch can also be accessed by cave entrances." This leads me to believe that there is no "third level" for a mine hole in a cave to take me.

Do we have any idea how many layers are down there? Would be kind of cool to have a dozen floors to your mine, with different mineral compositions on each floor.
