Nope, that will most likely get you murdered :) Your character stays logged in while in combat.

I got mauled by a bear earlier. I was able to log out after he KO'd me and log in at my hearth fire, still had about 80 hhp.

I quickly typed :lo after I saw stars on my character, in hopes that I'd avoid death. Didn't work for me; character wasn't in my list, and my chest was pounding and then I went like this.
