Problem is, most threads you'll turn up in a search have replies exactly like yours. It'd be better, in all honesty, to not reply at all - or simply answer the question. One or the other. Anything but make a pointless post that, in the long run, is not going to help the few people who do bother searching.
At least he's being polite and not asking in an annoying way.
