New character in coniferous forest = no food

Don't fishing spots appear randomly in the water? At least, I've seen some around near my cabin at some points, and not around at other times.

You can also wander around looking for rabbits. And if there is any grassland nearby, look for flocks of chickens.

In any case, i managed to solve my food issues long ago by being lucky and stumbling upon a fishing area when walking along a river...

So i had to scrounge around for a taproot and one rabbit for string and hook
Then dig for earthworms

All in all that takes quite a while to set up... i ran out of loaves and was draining a lot of orange hunger bar by the time i got my first roasted perch or whatever

I started in the coniferous forest, and did pretty well before some Polish guy decided to murder me. I lived on rats, rabbits, berries and roots for a little while. As soon as possible I built a boat and stuck two crates in it, then went searching for grasslands. I came home with a boat full of chicken meat and apples, and lived off that stockpile. Farming with seeds taken from houses I passed helped out as well.

I am now MILES MILES MILES MILES MILES MILES MILES away from my house, still no rabbits.

I found ONE. But it still got away because my hearthling stood there like an idiot when I was ON TOP of the rabbit. Ugh.

I'm probrably 50+ miles away from my house and I found a fox skeliton and harvested it's bones. Bones is basicaly all I was looking for, So I head home after raiding an ant nest and feasting on some delicous aphids.

You have to at least to walk (but run is more relieable) to catch the rabbit. You also need 2x2 free tiles in your inventory.
