Try to trap boar in palisade gate then do that what you want to do .

This is a couple days behind but.. I just tamed a cute lil (male) pig, and went with the shallow water method.
Aggro the boar, beeline for the water, and get out of the boar's reach. Then use the usual taming method... the thing is though, and the main reason I'm posting as a warning... you don't need to wait to get aggroed by it again after your first taming attempt, so moving just within range should aggro it again and let you start the next "round," or if boars still do risky damage to you (they do to me >< ) you might want to let it wander off a bit first before coming out and letting it aggro again.
