It occupies only the left robe slot. It does not touch your backpack slot.

Suppose Q matters for 1 man ( alt ) villages or just villages with a giant authority upkeep - might want to get every additional point in int / cha in that case.

Also, silk quality affects some other items so you might want to increase the quality if you can (ranger gear iirc).
