Any advancement beyond soil q will be glacial.

it's because you are using the best 1/3 of all the seeds to replant, not the average of the seeds.

IIRC

Prob of quality NOT going up for each seed should be:

6/8 = 0,75

So, each plant has 1-(0,75*0,75*0,75) = 57,8% prob of geting a higher quality seed.

with enough seeds an enough generations you should be able to push your crops to whatever level you wish.

What exactly is the equation for Seed QL anyways? I read it somewhere on the wiki, but I can't for the life of me find it again.

It was something like "(Base seed QL + Farming Skill + +5/-5 + Soil QL) / 3".

Wiki is wrong. It's previous generation + [random], softcapped by your farming. [random] range is -5,+5 if the q is lower than soil q, and -5,+2 otherwise.

Are you sure about that formula, Potjeh?
Some farmers are reporting a much faster drop in q when planting on inferior soil...

That's what Loftar posted.

*edit* Actually, said it in IRC apparently. Link to a post with chatlog.

The formula is 100% sound.

I'll check my sources and do further experiments, but if Loftar sees this, can you confirm Potjeh's formulas, and should deviations be reportad as bugs?
