The method I described was of producing a sling, getting yourself to 10 Marksmanship, trapping the animal, then killing it. Sabinati rightly pointed out that, that would actually take about a day since you need to dry your hides on the rack -- a slip up on my part. So that method would allow you to hunt on the same day.
I suppose you still could hunt otherwise, you'd just need to know exactly what you were doing. You'd need to buy Leadership and Soldier's Training and ~10 unarmed. With that, call down the thunder to 26 initiative, opportunity knocks 4x, knock his teeth out. The animal should be docile by then, if not repeat until it is. When it becomes docile, then you can Charge! it instead to build initiative. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16722
