Higher quality farming = better farmed seeds/harvest?? I always thought it was hardcapped/softcapped by the soil quality.. would having (for example) 1000 Farming vs 50 Farming matter on an area with q20 soil?

The random range is what gets softcapped, not the harvested products.

I was hoping someone would jump out and tell me "no! you foolish fool! Hunting is far superior to mining, you are just missing out on some small element that is difficult for noobs to figure out!" and then I'd happily continue my animal massacre. Since this is not the case, yes I intend to mine more often. I think I'll strike a balance by hunting for a cupboard or two full of food, then mining till it's all eaten, repeat.

Also, maybe I'll try my hand at farming again...

Foragin pros:
- Can be quick/slow depending on what pace you want to set
- high reward, if you do it right
- you're bound to make allies, if you're any good at it
- The less gear you have, the better; though your equipment has to work!
- Will make you very hungry, and often raise travel weariness significantly

Foragin cons:
- Might make some enemies along the way
- can stunt your max HP, or result in permadeath
- leaves scents

wait.. did I mix that up somehow? hmm.. :D
