Craftable Curiosities are of course the very lower end of the line - you won't get shit from it.
You get Curiosities for many other things though like hunting / farming etc.
A single ant soldier gives already 200 base LP -> 720 LP with 360% Learning Ratio.
And seriously - you find ant hills everywhere, you just have to explore ( be courious ).
Hunting big game will most likely reward you with similar curiosities ( which probably you won't get everytime, but if you do - it'll be rewarding )
I dont really see the wisdom in this though. This means that there will still be exploits, bots now just have to spam tree cutting until they pick up spiders or whatever else trees drop. It makes a macroers job much harder, but it also makes playing less enjoyable. Instead of seeing instant returns on the work we do, we now have to waste a chunk of time grinding until curios drop. Part of the fun about H & H was that you could get home from a week of 8 hours shifts, plop yourself down for 16 hours and grind like mad. This now seems like a waste of time, since some players will be able to gain just as much exp as me doing this by sitting there using curios their villagers made for them in 2 hours.
It seems like this entire system is just to combat bucketfags and macroers, I think a diminishing returns system coupled with a higher tree regen rate would have kept everyone more happy.
For the record, I have no totally made up my mind about this new system, I may or may not quit at this point. I really really liked H&H tho, so I'm gonna give it a fair shake. But at first glance, I really really dislike this LP system.
