it's useful to have punch if you only have 2 inventory slots and you see a bunny...

Actually, I couldn't seem to pick up bunnies, so have to punch them to death. Brutal. (and funnier.)

An unarmed of around 7 or 8 will let you raid an ant hill without getting damaged. I wouldn't say it's a total waste.

edit: on second thought, don't you just get dodge without any purchased skills? In that case, yeah, I'll have to agree with the unarmed skill.

Not always. I got it early on because I found some chicks in a grassland (someone had already taken/killed the chickens and cock) and I used Punch to kill the chicks and butcher the resulting chicken corpse so I could discover feather/bone/chicken meat. I was hungry too ><
