Farming question

I wish I could fine some seed to farm with. I have exploration 5, farming 3, these skills

is there something I'm missing or not high enough values to find those wind blown things to get seeds. I also can't build a well on a spring I found.
There is a big orchard to the north of me and i do see a rabbit and blue berries once in a while so I'm not starving, but I have been killed by a boar once and a bear twice while going there. getting kinda scared to travel.

You need to discover all materials needed to build the well.

Travelling woods without a custom client is as good as suicide.
Use a custom client such as Ender's client to hide trees, so you can spot boars/bears behind them.

Hey thanks for the info.
I have stone working, a dowsing rod so i guess i need a higher value in something. I tried that client but i couldn't get it to work. I'm probably overlooking something there to.
